Art Mûr

For school I had to attend a museum of contemporary art and write a paper on some of the pieces I saw.
It was the hottest day of the year so far, so walking around the town afterwards was exhausting but so worth it in the end. It was a very fun outing and I saw some pretty awesome work at the exhibit.

This one gave me such a start when I turned the corner. I was alone, I literally jumped and then froze for a good minute or so.

Free Comic Book day!

Free comic book day was yesterday, and my sister and I headed out, enjoyed the nice weather and got some comics :) I didn't get any of the free ones (except a silly pippi longstocking issue) because there wasn't much. But I did get a few bin comics on sale which I'll probably read on my bus ride tomorrow or on my break.

Today is SO hot. I can't believe tomorrow's gonna be worse. It seems spring only lasted a week. Summer has come too early!! We already bought ice cream (red velvet cake @_@) and I've been putting off having coffee because I just get overheated. :(

If the sky that we look upon should tumble and fall

Got my River Phoenix shirt ! I'm in love, I can't promise i'll ever take it off. Cow Cow Yicky Yea.
Visit sixwas9ine for all your graphic tee/tank needs.
I'm really loving this warm weather. I got a mosquito bite trying to feed a terrified little kitty in my backyard and was actually happy about it. All of the little creatures are awakening, and I can feel it more than ever this year.

I've also been painting recently, abstract works. I bought a bunch of new acrylics and two large canvases and just went wild. The first one was more of a test of techniques and stuff, and I'm not entirely proud of it so I won't bother posting, but the second one I put a lot more feeling into and the whole experience was more of a... well, experience as opposed to painting for the sake of painting. I realized that doing abstract work requires a kind of meditation. You have to just go with the flow and not worry about messing up or getting paint all over you. Towards the end of the process of this one I was almost in complete darkness and was listening to baroque music with an apple scented incense lit. When I was done it was hard to break the mood, I had to turn on the light to clean up and for a while I didn't want to look at the painting, as if the light would reveal imperfections, but it was just the opposite. I was surprised at how much I loved it and felt I had a strong personal connection to it.
Now that I know what abstract work requires, I'd like to do a lot more. Since this one is to be hung in the living room (a nice surprise, my parents' idea) I have to make another for that bare wall in my room, and I'm looking forward to it. :)

It doesn't have a title yet. I think that will come in time. I really don't know why I keep thinking Poppycock.

Way down in New Orleans

All I've been listening to lately is Leadbelly . Even though this look is simple, it was put together while dreaming of his bluesy sound.

Buffalo '66?

Such a warm day today! I wasn't even cold in this!
I guess for this look I drew a bit of inspiration from Buffalo '66's Billy Brown, in terms of stripes and cut off jeans. :) Wish I had his red boots though!

Spring, is that you?!

It's been a while since I blogged (non-tumblr), and I figured I was long overdue. It's really because I've been trying to (physically and internally) get out of the annual winter drought. Not too proud of this outfit, nothing special or anything, I just wanted to show off my new 90s Angela Chase jeans that I got for $5 second hand. :)

And a few shots of my room (: I like taking photos of it pretty much once a month cause it changes so much in that time even if it's small changes that only I notice it looks different to me.
